Show off that body Dan!

Daniel wasn’t in terrible shape, but in just a 12 week period he managed to turn his body into a more chiselled, leaner and all round more aesthetically pleasing physique.

• 91kg down to 78kg,
• 21% body fat down to 14%
• 134mm skin folds down to 76mm
• 90cm waist down to 76cm in 12 weeks

What is your fitness background?

Other than a few high school activities I hadn’t much exposure to fitness before joining the gym.

Why did you decide to transform your body?

I have always wanted to live healthier and have a body to be proud of, not just in the sense of how it looks but also how it feels.

What was your training like?

I had a 5 day weights training programme developed for me which focused on an upper/lower body split to ensure I retained as much muscle and strength as possible during my 12 week diet period. Additionally I played 5-a-side football with my friends every Sunday to get some cardio in.

What was your diet like?

I approached a company from my home town who specialise in nutrition to develop a personalised nutrition plan to help me achieve my fitness goals. Without this help and ongoing support I wouldn’t be anywhere near the level I am currently at.

What supplements did you use?

Ah the good bit. I use Matrix Anabolic Protein powder – I recommend this to anyone who is training, the 39g protein content per scoop with minimal carbs and fat is an absolute gem because it ensures an easy way to hit protein macros if you’ve been a little slack that day! I also used creatine monohydrate and a combination of Matrix Rage 2.0 and NoXplode as a pre-workout (Do not take both together guys, it’s one or the other!)

How has your lifestyle changed?

My lifestyle has improved dramatically, I’m a far more positive person with an “I can achieve anything I put my mind to” outlook on life.

What challenges did you face?

During my training in 2013 I received a small set back with a tear to my left rotator cuff, which resulted in taking 12 weeks out the gym. During my diet phase the only challenge was resisting the temptations. I’ve surprised myself with how well I managed to do this and it was only possible by reminding myself of the bigger picture, yes that Burger King will taste phenomenal just now but the feeling of achievement when I reach that goal will outweigh it massively.

How do you feel about your transformation?

I am delighted with what I have achieved and I’m thrilled to see that a little bit of hard work and dedication truly pays off.

What are your plans for the future?

As many other fitness enthusiasts will agree, our goals are never ending. We are constantly striving to better ourselves in the gym, always pushing harder and lifting heavier. My transformation has been a great experience and I am now leaner than ever but it doesn’t stop here, in 2015 I will be back onto my diet and hoping to achieve my next goal – 10-12% body fat.

Anything else you’d like to tell us?

Just a small thanks to my family, best friends and work colleagues for the support during my diet. Every encouraging word and simply asking how the diet was going kept me on the right tracks.
